Just finished a pedal plane for my oldest grandson. The fake radial engine was made from plywood, steel bowl and PVC for the cylinders. The prop turns when you pedal the plane. It is run by a twisted heavy duty rubber band. The stick steers the tail wheel. The prop is made from a piece of 1/2” floor shop floor mat from HF. There are many pedal powered plans available, I used my own design. It is just a generic airplane.

Man that looks great. Your grandson should be soaring around for quite some time.

one of the neatest looking little pedal toys I have seen! Great job and the Grandson will be the envy of the neighborhood!
