Like the Zebrawood box I posted earlier, this is just a big fancy box designed to hold a bunch of stuff. In this case it’s made of Padauk and hold dice for my games. About 6” tall, 8” wide, and 6” deep, it holds a bunch of stuff.

When I first finished this box I had used a water based poly that really made the orange in the Padauk scream! I then entered it into a city arts show and it was placed in a case where it got direct sunlight for about 8 hours a day. When I picked it up it had turned a darker reddish-brown as I heard it would. The pull is made of a piece of maple burl that I shaped on my stationary belt sander.

A preliminary coat of natural stain brought out the shine on this piece and the two coats of polycrilic finished it off.

I really enjoy seeing these boxes. You executed a nice design with this one and the contrasting maple adds a nice detail to the box’s appearance.

Nice job.

I like the sweeping lines and the colour ..,the handle doesn’t photograph at all well… I am sure that in real life this is sweet.,.
These boxes are addictive.
