I’ve made several boxes of this design. They are pretty straight-forward, easy to make, but fun to touch and look at. My first one of this style was made of Padauk and I use it every day to toss my wallet, keys and coins in at the end of my day. My wife had told me to make someting so my stuff wasn’t laying all over the counter.
Once I made the first one, my wife dubbed it my “Man Box.” Kinda lame but funny. “Honey, where are your keys?” “They’re in the man box!”
The box is about 8” wide, 5 1/2” tall and 5 1/2” deep. The hardware is standard home center stock. Finished with a natural stain and several coats of poly.
