Happy Fathers Day guys!
My daughter decided to let me teach her to make a bowl today. This is a nice spalted maple (still on lathe). With a little coaching she did a great job. She even learned how to use the Ellsworth Chisel easily. This took about an hours worth of work. We finished it with 3 coats of Minwax rub on poly.

a woodworking daughter, what a lucky dad. But remember the word “spalted” means danger. Toxic if inhaled.

Be careful of the spalted maple or any spalted wood. Its a fungus and can get into you lungs or eyes and cause allergies. I know, it happened to me about 6 months ago. Make sure you protect yourself. jockmike
