This project started out with 2 old maple slabs that I got from a friend of mine that was moving so he was going to throw these two slabs in the dumpster. So I saved them and next my neighbor was going to throw away the heavy cast iron and wood bench, because they are moving , so I saved it from the dumpster as well. The bases are plow discs I got for free from my friend who has a farm and they were replacing the discs, so again free. So far I have nothing into this project. The only thing I bought was the 3 inch steel pipe that I got for $10, but only used 2 pieces for this project, about $1. So now you know my theme in projects, save stuff that is going to be thrown away and get it for free. Just spend time and some shop supplies and maybe need to buy a new tool or two.
I did have to clean up the slabs which was a lot of work and I purchased some two part West Epoxy, which is the first time using this kind of epoxy, but it turned out great. I finished with Spar Varnish for outdoor weather protection.
It was a lot of fun and enjoyed this project. I use the high table all the time when I am cooking out side with my grill and the bench and small table will be used outside my shop for my frequent breaks.
Again thanks for looking.
