Project Information

My current interests seem to be Bandsaw Boxes. I really haven't tried this before and I am enjoying the learning curve.

The first Box is Red Cedar and Plywood. Has two drawers and measures 5.25" high x 5.50" wide x 3.5" deep.

The second box is Red Cedar & Tiger Maple. It has one drawer and measures 4.5" high x 5.50" wide x 3.5" deep.

Both boxes are finished with 5 coats of Wipe on Poly, sanded with 200 grit between coats. The pattern for the two drawer box is a Steve Carmichael pattern, that he offers free on his website. The single drawer box is a free pattern from the Drunken Woodworker I also flocked the drawer and drawer cavity with Suede Tex. Flocking the drawer cavity is something I picked up watching the Drunken Woodworker's video (above) and it really does add quite a bit to the overall looks of the project.

Be careful of those durned band saw boxes- they are addicting. Trust me, I know.
I have never thought to flock the inside of the cavity, but it is a superb idea. I'll bet it helps to make a better fitting drawer, and a more smooth movement to boot.
I think I will share that idea with the FaceBoook group.
You did a great job on those boxes.

Thank you Donna, flocking the drawer cavity is actually an idea I got from The Drunken Woodworker, David Pachueto (sp). It does make the drawer fit better and much smoother to pull out. One of these days I hope to make a BS box half as nice as your boxes

Actually, Cajun, I think your boxes are easily as good as any I have done. You do good work no matter what you make.

Bill, pretty nice boxes. I have yet to use flocking, I always just finish the inside of the drawers and cavity the same as the outside surface.

Give it a try sometime Dick - it makes a huge difference in the overall look and feel of the box. Do you recognize that Red Cedar? That was the last of it.
