My most recent project was a coffee table for my wife. I made this with joinery only. No glue, nails or screws except for the drawer slides. After reading books on Japanese joinery techniques I wanted to attempt to make something without the help of nails, screws or glue. I used mostly wedges to lock everything in place. I am pleased with the final project but it was very time consumming. I do not have a mortiser so I chiseled everything by hand. It was a fun learning project. The finished stain is Espresso with polyurethane clear coat. The dimensions are 36” sq., 18” tall.

Awesome! I love the idea of a coffee table with a drawer.

You’ve got me interested in checking out some books on Japanese joinery. Is there a particular book you recommend?
