Frances' Beach Ball Inspired Corn Hole Boards

My wife asked for a set of “colorful” corn hole boards to use by the pool. I had been working on a set that I had stained the faces but they didn’t meet the colorful requirement. I sent her a paint color chart and she chose this yellow and blue. I visit the local hardware and pick up the paint. As I am working on a design for the boards, my son wonders thru the shop and mentions how these are beach ball colors….ding!!! Add a little red and finish with Gloss Polyurethane. Found a place on Amazon that sells just about any color of bags so I ordered a set to match the color scheme. She appears to be very happy with the results…woohoo points for ole Buster.

Hey Buster, wouldn’t it be interesting to do a study on the number of LJ projects posted that were requested by our wives or other family members? What do you think the percentage would be? Great job as always buddy.

Super Buster. Now make sure they float and you can use them in the pool.

Ivan- Thank you sir. I can in no way, shape or form take credit for the color choice…lol

Chris- thank you sir. It was a fun project… Which I am happy is finished…lol

L2L- Thanks Lee. It would be almost 100% friends or family for me. The nice thing about being a not for profit hobbist, I only take on projects for people I like…lol. The one exception would be the bread knives I made to raise money for my daughter’s trip to Toronto…and at least 80% of the folks who got those would have passed the free project test!!!

Jim- thank you sir. The boards “book match” and two small latches allow them to be carried and stored as a single unit. Which is handy because the bags can be stored inside.

Dave- Thank you sir. Please don’t give her any more ideas….lol I am fixing to start on her some “bistro” style tables to go out there, don’t need anymore pending projects…lol

Another fine job by BusterB! Yes sir, I do like those colors. Nice choice of color for the bags also. Something I also like is the paper you used for painting the ring. It looks like some sort of tool catalog, or as I call it “tool porn” ye haw! It would take me half the afternoon to get it painted with it papered up like that. Lotsa good reading. OK, back on track, nice job on the boards, keep up the good work.

Jeff- Thank you buddy. Not many folks on here can make me laugh like you do….lol. Tool porn via Rockler….I have found it superior to my usual painting protection which is a northern tool catalog. Twice the coverage area and interesting articles….because of course I just get it for the articles on science and politics…never, ever for the pictures….lol
