I post this not to promote nor vilify this flag.
This was an exercise with 3d software and finishes. It is 14×18” MDF and cut on a CNC.

That is called the battle flag of the Northern Virginia Confederate Army.
Some illeterates think it is the flag of the Confederate States….they are wrong.
Very interesting. Does the 3d include the frame?

Thank you for the history. Yes to the frame included. I practiced on the flag characteristics being in or out then practiced on making an included frame. I wanted to express an American icon that holds much meaning to many people, in many different ways.

At first, I thought this was a framed antique flag until I read the post. I really like the way this is styled. Nice job.

I like it regardless of what the government says. I would never have guessed MDF. I thought it was a slice of burl.

I thank everybody. I have many years with traditional woodworking but for the last 2 years I am focusing on CNC carvings and metal finishes. BUT! My goal is to incorporate a CNC piece with a metal coating into my wood working project (i.e. I posted a Jay Bates bench with a cnc carved, with metal finish) as for the flag- I am glad that I didn’t fight in that war…

illiterates….highly ironical. A look at the 2nd 3rd and 4th versions of the confederate national flag bear a striking resemblance to the honorable battle flag of the Northern Virginia Confederate Army.

Sure looks like the upper left of the confederate flag. Stainless is pretty funny. Either way it is seen as a racist emblem and should be forgotten, along with the description of why the rest of the flag was white.

Laughable. The Battle Flag of N. VA is a square flag, meaning the quadrants between the “stars and bars” are symmetrical. This flag is rectangular which means it’s the new “no-no” flag.

To the OP, nice work regardless of any drama.

What’s an illeterate. Classic typo.

sub title from that link:
History books, the media, the school systems, etc abound in falsehoods and inaccuracies of Confederate and Southern history. This fact sheet will help to clarify and dispell some of these rampant inaccuracies.
