It’s not wood but here’s my first attempt at a pumpkin since maybe the late 70’s or early 80’s when using just a kitchen knife (definately easier with carving tools). Before I started I knew I wanted to try shading by not cutting completly through the pumpkin so I had to think in reverse as to where to carve so the dark areas are actually the pumpkin skin. Also I remembered about ten years ago I found a group of fiber optic strands in Los Angeles after a concert and thought it could work for a mohawk, I just had to use a light bulb instead of a candle. I had a double ended fixture from when I used to keep snakes and put a 7 watt red bulb in one end and a 7 watt clear in the other.
