Project Information

This is a ponderosa pine cone inside of a shadow box made of ponderosa pine wood. The holes are where the mpb (mountain pine beetle) has burrowed through the wood. Once in a while instead of just blue wood there can also be this magenta-colored wood as well. I decided to seal this box with butcher block oil to bring out the colors. There is a keyhole in the back to aid in the hanging of it on a wall.

How did you make the pine cone look so real. That must have taken forever to carve. ;)
