I try to make a gift jewelry box for the bride when we are invited to a wedding; with 15 nieces and nephews, 2 daughters, and lots of friends, it seems there are several weddings every year.. This box was made for my son-in-law’s Sister, Errin. It is difficult to design a completely new jewelry box, so I will look in magazines, books, the WEB for ideas. I always just take the concept and re-engineer the design to fit my tools and skill level. As it happens this box’s inspiration came from a photo in Wood Magazine. And yesterday (April 23,2009) I found this box as a project on the Lumberjock’s site for Bibb. What a small world.

I love the design and may make a second box to give away at a fund raiser for the Boy’s and Girl’s Club next Spring. This box is made from the same cherry I used in Jessica’s bed, walnut from Grampa’s farm, and pecan (the lid) from another Isabel casualty from my son-in-law’s home in Norfolk.

It came out great. I love this style with the exposed drawer slides. She will love it.

Very nice box. Love the design. I’m sure she will cherish it for years.
