The Eater Bunny

Project by Spoontaneous posted 218 days ago 371 views 0 times favorited 5 comments Add to Favorites Watch

The next in a series of sculptural spoons. It all started as a small V-crotch that I cut from a friend’s dead Grapefruit tree. I was just going to let the wood lead me to what sort of spoon and for the longest time it looked like a frog (legs instead of ears). Somewhere down the line the bunny spoke louder than the frog and from there the idea flowed. First basket weave I have done and I made it harder than it should have been. The inlays are turquoise and silver beaded wire. The colors are from homemade dye.

The piece has most of the components of Easter: the bunny, the egg and the basket, quite secular appearing at first, but when you consider that the basket weave is by nature full of ‘crosses’ you might could say that the cross is ‘behind’ the whole idea.

Very fun and whimsical, yet upscale. Nice job and thanks for sharing.

I really like this one. It seems to be more technically challenging than the others and whimsical at the same time. Nicely done.
