As for your question, I think I would incorporate columns into the piece maybe along the sides. I immediately think columns when I think of classic architecture. However I notice on the sides of yours it looks like squared columns with a base and top. I think you hit the nail on the head with this one.

The characters mean ‘spirit’. I think in the future, we will put some scroll work in the middle arch and that will tie in the characters a little more to a theme. She just submitted it yesturday so I’m still waiting to hear about a grade. Thanks guys!

Great work, and I like the chinese letters too.
You know it’s a bit funny, because when we, Japanese, make something, we never write these letter in Japanese, almost everybody uses English, because we think it’s cool, and you write Japanese or Chinese, and you think it’s cool.
