I recently tried my hand at making fan carved birds. These are made out of one piece of wood. Nothing is glued on. The wood is just regular pine.

Richard, these are lovely! I had seen the 3” draw knife somewhere, now I know it’s use. Thank you for sharing your works and the technique.
