This is a custom train bed that was completed on April 2009, Check out the building blog of the building process. It is a twin bed with a working light and storage on the bottom section.
The light is controlled by a 3 stage touch sensor with the touch switch located on the headboard.

Chris this turned out well. I am sure the recipient is going to be one happy little engineer. I don’t think that sending this “engineer” to their room for “time out” as a behavior modification tool will work in this case. :)
