A friend of mine cut a ceder tree down about 2 years ago. He was going to trow it away, but I asked if I could have it. I let it dry for about a year. Then I cut it up so that i could turn it on my lathe. and then made the base by resawing another section. it was great fun. It means a lot to me since I dried the wood and cut it and turned it.

Nice lighthouse. I’ve got a couple of small logs I’ll need to try turning they.

I started carving a light house about a year ago, Didn’t get too far. Looks like turning would be a lot easier :-))

one thing about ceder, it’s real soft. keep your turning tools sharp! and it will cut like butter. And smells great too.

That looks great. I like the stand it’s on, too.
