I saw a photo of a desk that incorporated a triangular motif in the back skirt, and inspiration struck. I used that motif in each of the three pieces as shown. Jessica is my older daughter.
In response to several comments and questions, the wood is cherry and walnut. The walnut is from a tree from Jessica’s grandfather’s farm. The construction is frame and panel. All the shelves and tops are breadboard. As you might notice, I try to expose the tendon ends to give the furniture I make an Arts and Crafts look. The finish is Danish oil with a wax coat to give it a bit of shine.
As an aside, you might notice in the photo of the credenza a lamp on the right hand side of the top. Part of the deal with my daughter was that she would get the credenza and bookshelves if, and only if, she replaced that “desk” lamp with something Tiffany. Being a CPA this did not sit well with my daughter, but being a CPA she realized the price of a nice desk lamp was a small one. The new lamp complements the desk nicely!!!

Very nice pieces. I really like the way you incorporated the triangular motif you talked about. What exactly are the woods you used and the finish? They will last for generations I am sure.

These are three very nice pieces. The design is outstanding and the construction looks even better. Great work.

I agree. Really nice. What type of woods and how long did it take? Finish?

I think it’s great. Great work. The set is really nice..It really does make you feel great when you make stuff that people are going to use.. I’m sure your daughter will enjoy the set for years.

Again, I take no credit for the idea. I saw a photo of a desk with a triangular modesty panel. Some sketching with a pencil, and I came up with the idea for the desk. Then I needed to make it all work together, and it seems that they do work together pretty well. The triangular motif is used throughout. Every shelf is bread board.
