I only had a day to make this, so it’s not the quality I had envisioned. Though it does look better in photo then in person. First I printed out the letters and traced them on the pine board. Google searched a bear photo and drew that into position, and finally decided on a 2 box design for my shape. Once the layout was complete I headed out to the shop and started carving.

Took about an hour to trace around the letters with my Dremelâ„¢, (cylinder bit). I simply carved out my outlines and then, from left to right, using an hourglass bit, I started grooving horizontally to create the grain effect. This took another hour. The fastest part of this job was the carving. Once I finished I spent the rest of my evening painting.

A few imperfections here and there, but over all I am happy with the project. I look forward to my next sign.

I respectfully disagree . . . I think it is great quality! You have a very cool logo. It would be great to see a blog series sometime in the future describing your process.

Did you use a mask and sandblast? or did you use a shopbot?
