A way too late Christmas present for my lady, was supposed to be a small wine rack and then she started telling me what she really wanted. That lept from a counter top version to a cabinet. It’s out of black walnut predominantly. The marquetry work was a first for me, done with hide glue. It’s book matched myrtle burl and then my picks from a wood identification veneer kit. Couple through dovetails for some details, the shelves all all dadoed in. Thought about sliding dovetails on that, but I don’t have a good way to run them doing that many panels without a whole lot of set up and I wanted repeatabilty. The drawer is a curly mahogany and birds eye maple. The backer is the same as the drawer bottom, it’s a fiddle back ply. The finish is a special walnut gel stain, sanding sealer and then 4 coats of poly, then waxed out with steel wool

Beautiful rack, but I like the dovetail drawer and closed cabinet door the most.
