”They’re not mistakes …. they’re creative opportunities”, as stated so graciously by my wife Sue. If you look at this, you will see the Mahogany and Walnut every other layer switching sides. I goofed, the two woods were supposed to stay together and opposite each other. I made my mistake on the second layer and had to continue the pattern the rest of the way up the bowl. This is where Sue’s gift of the English language comes in.
The bowl measures 13” X 6” and is treated with a lemon oil and wax mix.

I think it looks very good Odie.
You just need to make one the other way and let everyone compare.

I see no mistakes here. I just see a well designed bowl with an interesting visual appeal. To tell the truth if you had not pointed out your “goof” I doubt that it would have even been noticed.
Nice job, Odie.

If you hadn’t told us we would never have thought of it as a mistake, only a really great bowl with great symmetry and contrast. Make the same bowl as originally intended and the public will probably split 50-50 on which one they prefer.

No you did it right. Your mistake was in thinking you where wrong. You where wrong…right? In any case it is a beautiful piece.

It worries me slightly that the Unknown Woodworker has returned…suffering a fugue state, Odie?
I think Dennis has it right. It’s a great bowl.

Looks great. I hardly consider that a mistake worth getting worked up over. :-)

OK, OK, I don’t really consider it a REAL mistake. To be honest I just like the phrase, “They’re not mistakes … they’re creative opportunities”.
