I had an idea for a long time to build a coffee table based on a Jens Risom design from 1959. I really like the way the top appears to float above the frame. My version is made with maple as it’s plentiful and relatively affordable in this part of the country. I lowered it a bit to make it feel a bit more casual and added a rail in the centre for additional support in case anyone decides to sit on it.
