This client wanted a desktop workstation so that he could sit straight up and help improve his posture. He had purchased one of these before and it fell apart. The company he bought it from didn’t offer it anymore. So he approacehed me about making this for him.
He was very specific about the heights and size and angles. Then he asked if I could do a bit of inlay of a Cockatie and the two dogs he and his wife had. He said he loved abstract art and wanted something like that to represent them. He sent me a photo and this is what I made.
American Cherry (what an amazing wood . . . every time I work with it!) and Western Maple, peruvian Walnut).
Inlaying the bird really was difficult. The rest went very well. I wrapped the cherry up the sides, across the top and down the other side. The sap wood on the scraps of Cherry I used inside actually ended up making the piece look even better. Fun project.

Really nice, Jaqueline. Great grain continuation from top to bottom and I love the figured wood drawer.

Awesome project. Marquetry bird is most beautiful. Dovetail drawer fits perfect.
