This comprises a sandwich. A laminate of sixteen pieces of different coloured woods and home-dyed veneers between two discs of boxwood. The silver adds a bit of sparkle.

So beautiful Stewart, rich in colors and texture..
Coincidentaly, I was doing this morning a ring for my wife out of Bocote, but as it’s in one wood, I am a bit worry it’s going to break easily.

It’s actual silver wire interpim; 1.5mm diameter. Drill holes and glue it in.
Moai – I’ve done one or two in a single wood and they seem strong enough.

Wow, this is great. What is the little wood looks like green and red? Did you color them, or that’s the color of the woods?

Hello Junji. Sorry for the delay in replying. The coloured pieces are beech veneer that I dyed in a spirit stain before gluing up the laminates.

Oh OK. Thanks. The little pieces in green and red makes the ring so pretty. Maybe I should try that the next time.
