The 2015 International Woodcarvers Congress was held in Maquoketa, Iowa this past week. The enclosed Intarsia pieces did well in the competition. The Motorcycle Scene won First Place in the Human Figure Category and First Place “Best in Class”. The Lady in Cameo won Second Place in the Human Figures Category and 3RD Place in “Best in Class”. They were four classes for Intarsia. Class 1 was Human Figures, Class 2 was Animals figures, Class 3 was Combined Human and Animal figures, and Class 4 was Misc. I also placed Second in the Human and Animal Class. There were about 40 entries in Intarsia in all categories combined.

Wow, both of these are beautiful!
I REALLY like the M/C one. I think I’ve ridden that road :-)

Outstanding choice of woods to match with motives and get amaizing 3D effect. Her hair looks so real.

I agree with JoeinGa – I believe I have ridden that road. All the comments have a great deal of merit. Wonderful hand you have.
