Long time lurker here, but I finally finished a real project that I felt comfortable sharing. Other than woodworking, I enjoy me some golf and thought making a putter rack would be a cool project. And it was.
This is a prototype design I made as a surprise for an out-of-state friend who organizes a big golf trip for a bunch of guys each year. Thus, I wanted something that could be quickly broken down and shipped flat to save on costs.
The frame is made from soft curly maple with a paduak accent on the bottom shelf and walnut tusks. First time trying through tenons and first time using a tusk wedge. Lots of warts, but I learned a ton. Finish is two coats of Danish Oil. Figured the piece would get a little beat up from wear and tear so I wanted a finish that could be easily repaired.
Going to make another one (or two) and will tweak the dimensions and design, but pretty happy with how it turned out overall.
Hope you guys like it! Any feedback is appreciated.
