Red Wood Porch Swing

Project by Gene47 posted 222 days ago 563 views 0 times favorited 6 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Greetings & Salutations,

I built this swing a couple of years ago for the front porch and had some success selling a few.

I have 5 coats of spa polyurethane for protection and it has held up quite well. I let it stay out the first year but did take it in this winter.

I have built this style swing in treated lumber, which is what I started with to get a feel for how I wanted the final design, and the latest is cedar which in some ways I like much better than the redwood especially the price of the wood.

I also used the scrap from the treated swing to build a nice and very comfortable lawn or porch chair. Comes apart and stands up for easy storage.

-- Gene Miller - it only took me 3 days 9 hours and 28 minutes to get that top flat!

I wish I could have a house with a big enough porch to put this swing… Great work.
