My son wanted a rubber band gun and being the kinda guy I am I jumped at the chance to have some creative fun. It is 3 pieces of plywood sandwiched together with the middle piece housing the trigger mechanism. when you pull the trigger the mechanism pivots and pushes the rubber band up off the holder and it fires. Pretty darn accurate too. The placement of the pivot point allows the mechanism to free fall back down for reloading.

I made 5 of these, one for my son and 4 for his friends, woodburned their initials in the grip so they wouldn’t argue over who’s was who’s. Let me tell ya, I didn’t have a bandsaw at the time and cutting out 15 patterns on the scroll saw was not the most joyous thing. But it was a fun project and seeing the smiles on their faces made it all worth while.

Looks good. The kids will have a great time.

I had access to a water jet company a few years back and could put my parts in the waste area of the plywood sheet we were cutting. Made 2 MA Dueces, some 2x scale ak’s, more swords than the kids could break, and one snow man with coal for buttons.

I have been making cowboy style guns from scraps of new pallets. I use a skill saw to cut close to the line than sand to final shape. The 3/4 pine cuts quick with the right blade. I can do 2 at a time that way.
