My project is stuck on fifty pounds.

My youngest is enamoured with firefighters and Firetrucks, so when this gauge froze this winter and was stuck on 50 lbs, I replaced it with a new one and brought the old one home for him. It needed something so we could hang it on the wall, so this is what I made today. I resawed a piece of walnut so that the gauge would mount in it. It needed to be about 1/4” thick. Then with some pieces of scrap butcher block countertop that I have I made the frame. The corners are glued and pinned with the new harbor freight pinner I got. Kind of a test run. It worked great. I then finished it with a coat of shellac and some paste wax. Just have to decide how to hang it. My son wants to hang it on a full size Firetruck that he says I should build for him.

Cool project—fun to hear your son likes it, too! I’m definitely waiting on the full-size truck, too!

Cool to see your son interested in gadgets. I vote for the truck too.

He’ll treasure that. I too can’t wait for the full sized truck model! He will probably want to live in it.

Great project, Bill. It’s cool to share something from work with your son.

Bill, a — maybe not quite full size — truck would make a good bed for a boy.

Thank all for the nice comments. Don’t tell Sean you all want the big truck too.
Bob, that’s true, but we have a nice set of bunk beds that Cindy’s dad made for them. Maybe when the older one moves to the basement bedroom, but then the younger one may not be into Firetrucks so much. Their closet door is already painted as old fashioned swinging garage doors with my version of one of our Firetrucks painted on.

Well, it was just a thought, Bill, but it sounds like you already have it covered.

A Very nice instrument display. Nice simple lines. It turned out very nice. I’m sure he’ll keep that forever.

Stellar job on the gauge display… looks good…Nice selection of woods, also….Nothing like a neat, sweet project to get the old heart started, and to make your son happy, also….Glad you made the Top 3 with your project….
