I finally had a day when I could be alone in the workshop for a few hours. I find it so relaxing to be out there. I really wanted to try a box from Doug Stowe’s book. I came out pretty well…of course, I can see every flaw! It is made of walnut and maple and finished with danish oil. I also needed more cutting boards as the 35 or so I already made have been given away as gifts. I had some jatoba, gorgeous rosewood, birdseye maple, cherry and purpleheart. The striped ones are all good wood…that “funky” one is just a bunch of scraps I had around..threw in some teak on that one! All finished with mineral oil. What an enjoyable day!! Thanks for looking!

those keyed miters turned out great!
I like the 3rd board the most, walnut? with 2 maple stripes… I can never have enough of that wood combination.

Ellen, they are all great projects, but to tell you the truth I’m kind of drawn to the funky one the most.

Hey Ellen
Nice cutting boards scraps or not beautiful .Do you have any problems with the danish oil taste in your food or are these just decorative boards?

Jim,
The box is finished in danish oil…the cutting boards are finished in mineral oil.
The boards are definitely not decorative!
Thanks for checking them out! I love making them and, even more, giving them as gifts.
