My husband was cutting up some firewood with friends and decided to have a competition to see who could cut the thinnest slice. They laughed at me when I discovered the pile of slices and decided that I was the winner of the competition. I let the pieces dry before I cut them, some warped horribly and others cracked, but I ended up with some pretty cool looking pieces.
The pattern that I cut was designed by my dad probably 20 years ago. He cut a set of bird plaques for my mother and grandmothers. These first couple that I cut were sort of test pieces, to see how well it would cut, so the size of the birds is a little off. they might need to be enlarged or put on a smaller piece of wood.
Thanks for looking

Very nice. There is a product you can purchase from Woodcraft call Polycryl that you can soak rounds like that in that will keep it from cracking. It fills the dead cells with acrylic and hardens prohibiting them from cracking or breaking down. I’ve used it and it works. Kind of expensive but you can reuse what is left.
