This is a flag case that I am currently working on. It holds a 3×5 American Flag and it is made from Red Oak. I tried to make it so the stars would line up nice and neat in the case. I am using plexi glass for the glass as the thirty dollars for real glass and a ten day custom order for the wait on the glass didn’t fit my time line for getting it done in time for Father’s Day. I used 8 linear feet of 1×4 oak and I used every bit of it as I screwed up on a couple of angles and had to recut. Oh well live and learn. The finish will be a Min Wax golden oak oil base finish with about 4 coats of high gloss poly. I’ll post the finished product this coming weekend.

Great looking case! I have been looking around for a while for inspiration for a couple of cases I need to make for flags that have traveled around the world with me. Do you happen to have plans for your design?

Sorry but I don’t have plans but I can give you some rough dimensions and angles. The radius for the top of the triangle is 100 degrees. the radius for the bottom two angles are 40 degrees. I will double check but I think the two top legs are 12 inches long and the bottom outside dimensions is 19 1/4 inches, . get some scrap and see if that works out. I will get you the exact dimensions in the next couple of days. Sorry.

I’ll try to put up a blog on the case in next week or so.
