After building the mission style bed, I needed night stands. The Grizzly bed plan came with a plan for a single 3 drawer night stand. The room the bed went into already had my grandfathers oak dresser with a couple of interesting details. First the top has a ‘step down’ design, with a 3/4” top sitting on another 3/4’ layer inset on 3 sides. (See picture). Also the top small drawers jut out 3/4”. I decided to incorporate these details into the 3 drawer night stands. I did not yet have a planer, so for drawer sides I chose faced plywood that I banded with oak strips then dovetailed to the face. Finishing will take place when it is warm enough for my finishing crew (wife) to set up in the garage.
