Project Information

I made this piece on spec, and was happy that a good friend decided to purchase it. I got paid, and I can see the piece again and again! What's not to like.

Here's the data on the piece: White Oak, Walnut, Holly, and Poplar
Ebonized Shellac Polish Finish

63" H x 29 W" x 20" D

Best in Show, 48th Annual Art Exhibit, Rappahannock Art League

2010 NICHE Award Finalist

I have a pictorial essay on making it here: http://www.andrewpittsfurnituremaker.com/Works_in_Progress/Cabinet_sans_Sides/Andrew_Pitts_-_FurnitureMaker_Cabinet_sans_Sides.html

Also, there is quite a bit about how I used CAD to design Shadows of Night in this video:

When I looked at the first picture, I thought it was a light….what a surprise. Great looking cabinet. Welcome to LJ's. From the looks of your pieces, you will be a great addition here. I also spent several years in the Navy at the start and though the Viet Nam years

Outstanding cabinet! The feet seem a bit large for the piece but that might just be camera angle. Overall this is very nice.
cheers

Thanks Charles, Bibb, DJG, and Doug. I agree that in the pix the feet seem kind of like Gumby's feet … didn't seem so when I made it, and it does have a different look from standing level. I remember trying thinner feet (the beauty of CAD … you can try anything), but they just didn't look right.

I think the feet ground the piece and just enhance it more. Great looking project.
