Cherry wooden spoons.

The smaller on is similar to what you can purchase but the bigger and deeper spoon is the one that my wife loves and uses for all her kitchen tasks. She really does love the larger and deeper spoon. I started by outlining the basic design on a block of wood then used a band saw to get the basic shape. After I had the basic shape I turned the handle to the final shape then went to work on shaping the spoon with a gouge and spoke shaves. Then I did a lot of smoothing by hand with sandpaper to get the final shape and finish.

Very nice spoons and the larger one is a good all around size. IMHO How thick was the stock that you started with?

For the large spoon I started with 1 3/4" thick piece of cherry. Thanks for the comment.
