Carved in basswood it measures 8” X 36” and has a mixed green wash in the background with a light stain over the whole thing. It is meant to be a door crown.
The design is my own, but was influenced by images in the Book of Kells.

Great idea for a project. You did a great job with the original design. I noticed it’s not symmetrical. Did you use any type of template that you can mirror image or was it drawn out freehand? Don’t take this question the wrong way. Your talents far exceed mine. Just curious.

Hi and thanks for the comments.
I originally drew the design on paper, then transferred it one half at a time. Symmetry is just not pleasing to me, so as I carved it, I let it change just a bit. Interesting that you noticed, but I hope that is not a bad thing.
