It is probably fairly evident by now that I am not the most serious of peoples….a bit goofy, even…. This carving is called “Not by the Hare on my Chinny Chin Chin”... It’s a bit of a play on words.

I carve using rotary hand tools… A Foredom, to be more specific. If you aren’t familiar with carving tools, a Foredom is a hanging motor attached to a flexible shaft and a hand piece that spin at high speeds. Different accessories are inserting into the hand piece for various applications. When I am finished with the carving part of my sculptures, I like to add just a little bit of oil paint to accentuate my cuts. It gives a nice effect and enhances the existing lines.

I honestly thought you nailed a portrayal of John Kerry. Nice carving job.

Very clever Josh.
Great work.

-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.

I love this one, Josh. It’s quite a character that you brought out of this piece of wood. It just goes to show you what you might find lurking in a piece of wood especially if you know how to fetch ‘em out. I love the way that you handled the top portion. It reminds me of a turban. You really do have a remarkable talent of bringing these wonderful characters out of the wood.

This fits, perfectly, with my twisted (gnarled?) sense of humor!
Great job!

Thanks so much! It doesn’t clash with my sense of humor, either :)
