Around the turn of the last century. Melaleuca was imported from Australia to Florida. Since this tree has a never ending “thirst”, it was used to dry up swamps in South Florida. Today, the tree is a tremendous pest and millions of dollars are spent trying to eradicate it.

I’m surprised to see such a beautiful table made out of this tree. It must grow quite differently in Australia. In Florida, the tree has no useful purpose.

Here Cypress and Camphor Laurel are regarded as pests but the timber is exquisite!!
