I haven’t posted an projects in a Loong time. I got on a pen turning kick a while ago and have made bunch of pens but this one is a bit more special. My wife’s boss recently graduated to become an episcopal priest. She has been working really hard for this honor while also being the director of a church run preschool, managing a family and taking care of her mother that has Alzheimers.

So a while ago I got a Bethlehem Olive wood pen blank and made a cuban/cigar pen out of it with a CA finish. My wife’s boss was always taking my wife’s pen of the similar type so I know she like the pen type. I made the pen back in January when I was doing the turning but recently finished the pen case out of Mahogany this week.

The case was finished with muptiple coats of GF Arm-r-seal. I inset the little certificate about the olive wood coming from the Bethlehem olive trees on the font of the case. I did the pen, case and the finish (obviously) and the wife did the pink felt liner. Not the color I would have chosen but her bosses favorite color is pink so that is fine too. I felt that the Bethlehem olive wood origin goes with Christianity and she would appreciate the gesture.

Other than putting the hinges on the WRONG side of the case like the left handed person I am (DOH!!!), both my wife and myself are happy with the outcome.

One of these days, I will post more of my pens.
