The largest piece was givin to me by a neighbor, he asked if I could remove it from his property. The other three are from a new construction subdivision(McAllen,TX), they were bull dozed over. Same with this next piece. see pic:
These pics show a tree root clump that I just washed with presser washer yestarday. Also some 2”slabs and a 5”x7” slab from the trunk. The wood looks a little different cause there was an abundant water source which causes lots of sapwood growth. High humidity also causes the tree to rot. Thats all the wood I got from that tree as far as large pieces.
Some of it shipped to Oroville.

It was used for making professional quality musical instuments, so shipping was a small percentage of retail cost of finished product. The flutes made sell for 500-1k. Yea thats what said.

Looks like pretty nifty stuff. How hard of a wood is it? Also, if you hade not played with it yet, you can use the insert image to directly include your pictures in the posts.

Hey! I’m glad to have found these pictures on here of the ebony slabs. That is a stunning wood, isn’t it? I am even MORE excited now! I saw the flutes that guy is making on Ebay. I guess he’s getting a good return on that Texas ebony you sold him!!! He is asking 665$ for his flutes! Something to consider when I get MY logs! ;-) Last time I checked, they were in Memphis…just a few more sleeps before they make it to Montreal.
Can’t wait!!!
Here’s the link for the flutes:
