Project Information

Sofa Table made from a Walnut slab my son cut using his homemade Alaskan Mill setup. Hade to go old school and hand plane both surfaces. The legs were cut from a slab taken from the same tree. The shelf I hate to say I had to buy. It is finished with Danish Oil. May come back and finish with poly. This will not be the last project I ever make with walnut, very friendly wood.

I love it! Couple questions for you. How does the live edge take to the Danish Oil? I'm never tried it but I'm loving how yours look. Also, how'd you attach the legs to the slab?

Great job on the table and congratulations on discovering what a wonderful wood Walnut can be. My two trees are almost big enough to make a table like that but I think I will save them for a rocking chair. Best wishes for success on all your future Walnut projects.

I use a lot of walnut. It is my favorite. Goes well with ash, maple or cherry. The crotch figure is awesome. Very friendly wood to work.

I did not apply to the live edge. I am thinking I will be adding some poly to finish it out. The skirt is bisquit to legs and then pocket hole to the top.
