The things people ask you to make when you wood work are endless. These are 3 ft tall nautical decorations for a driveway. The longer ones pictured in the trailer get buried 2ft. Rope is 1”. Making 12 total. Under the rope the 6” post are wrapped with 2” wide strips of galvanized roof flashing material. They weigh about 60 lbs each.

How are the ends of the rope fastened? I can see other applications for these besides decoration. Plant stands. Drink holders around a pool table. Cat perch…

LJRay – On the backside the ends are nailed down with electrician staples.

There’s a house not far from us that has 2 of these as gate posts to his driveway.

Yes people ask for the strangest things. My view is if I can do it and it does not violate my morals then I will bid on the project. Don’t know if I will get it.

These could be very attractive in the right spot. Nice work.

Thanks all for your comments. Ronstar: These are made from 6” cattle fence post. Can get them at any farm supply. Now if your asking about post to mount them you can see in the picture next to the trailer one post was left 2 ft longer than the rest. This can be cut longer for more northern regions where the frost line is deeper. The first 2 pictured are going to be anchored somehow to a concrete slab with a light mounted to the top. Hope I answered your question.

I would be another person interested in the nautical piles. Unable to message you except this way. How can I contact you?
