Medicine Cabinet

I made this recessed medicine cabinet to replace a big clunky, wall mounted abomination of painted sheet metal and mirrors. I hand picked the curly maple planks from a near by, well timed woodworking show. Having never worked with curly maple before I was surprised by the amount of tension in the wood. One board released so much as I ran it through my table saw, it stopped the blade completely. I’m glad I bought a couple extra boards just in case. I used self closing European style hinges. I used Minwax pre stain treatment and Minwax Early American stain on the door and trim. The whole thing is finished with a cocktail of Polyurethane, boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. I love the way the curly maple turned out after the stain was applied. Anyway, thanks for your interest.

Very nice : )
I think that I would have had to made a picture frame surrounding the mirror out of that sweet Maple though . Keep up the good work.
