Back when I started doing actual projects, assignment No. 1 was to build a stand for the CEO/CFO’s various planters.
How did that turn out? http://lumberjocks.com/projects/103391
So, once she made it clear that the acquisition phase has come to an end and the production phase was to start immediately, I got to cracking. A now-closed establishment on my block was chucking all kinds of construction lumber, so I pulled a bunch of 2x & 1x pieces and got to work. Needed a few more boards from Menards, and ultimately its all basic construction-grade lumber.
Drew up plans, measured many, many times and set up various stop blocks and straight edges. Unfortunately, it still came out awkward but fortunately, my deck is a lopsided disaster so it actually kind of works. Had a big can of redwood-tinted deck-stain/water repellant from the Mere Mortals planters I built earlier this year (on the right and left of the planter stand) and … that’s that.
Simple. Not fancy. But … progress.
-- May the good Lord help me if I ever actually have a shop, garage or basement.
