As an AARP tax preparer, I had worked at a new site for one season under the tutelage of a very adept senior citizen (not that I am a spring chicken myself.) He taught me so much in those few months, that i wished to thank him in a tangible way. As cigar smokers, I felt that a humidor would be right on the money. At that time i didn’t own a band saw nor any cedar lumber, so i cheated a little and promoted a decent cigar box from a local dealer. This I laminated in lacewood, purpleheart, canarywood, spalted maple and a Gaboon Ebony fillit. I sanded to fit and finished with urethane. My mentor was quite taken with this item and i was rewarded with a fine ”Cubano.”

That’s great. How is it hinged?

I enjoy a good cigar myself so I can appreciate the gift exchange. Methinks you may have the best of the deal. Real cuban cigars are hard to come by. A friend of my son was in the Panama invasion and brought me back a few. Wonderful. jockmike

Woodworking with a greater purpose is something I strive to do. You hit the nail on the head. That’s a real nice cigar box to.
