Bed Post Repair

Two of four bed post rail sockets were split out on this bed. Both posts came to me with the pins partially exposed. They required routing away all the damage to create a true and level pocket for the replacement block. The blocks were created with the slots and pins then glued and screwed in place. The posts both required some hand shaping with rasps and files recreate the bottom and top profiles. Fortunately the damage didn’t extend into the turned portions of the posts which would have complicated the job.

I’d say you rescued those posts. Well done!
