This is another quickie project made with some White Fir that has bug holes in it making it look like the distressed wood so popular with the antique shoppers (this is the real thing). I have used up about 2,000 bdft of this material (I mill it all myself) making small furniture such as book shelf’s, benches tables and wall cabinets with and without glass doors. I price most all of these items at thirty to fifty dollars and have sold them at craft shows and through a local gift shop.

Thats great Ron…and I can see how it would be popular with the antique shoppers. Its neat that you can mill your own lumber. My outlet is Lows and Home Depot and they deal mainly with crooked lumber….sigh... the price seems to be right in the ball park. I guess if your making a living at selling at the craft shows, you have to charge more. Me…anything I build goes for double the price of the cost of the lumber…and a little for shop ware…heck if I was not doing wood working….I would probably be fishing….and I know I don’t get paid for that…LOL…. great job with your quickie projects…

Interesting pieces, Ron. No doubt – this is exactly the kind of item that sells well at craft shows. The White Fir with bug holes just adds to the affect.

Yeah, these things sell like hotcakes. I have a friend that makes his living making stuff similar to this, but I’d say yours are a little more tasteful.

Good stuff. You’re lucky you are able to mill your own lumber…. I think that is the only way to turn a decent profit building and selling.
