Murphy Bed Corner Unit

Project by Chris Davis posted 239 days ago 1104 views 0 times favorited 8 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This is a horizontal, sideways, Murphy bed that was completed in April 2009. It is built it oak and stained in a Dark Walnut stain from Minwax. It is the Euro style with its long leg across the front.

It has a 44” bookcase that is connected to the bed with a corner unit. Since there would be wasted space in the corner where they met, a cutout was made in the bed vertical so that space could be accessed. The bookcase has a drawer on one side and a pull out desk that has a keyboard tray on it on the other.

Here are some raw video of the build:
Final assembly 2

Sanding the finish

Cleaning edges of boards

Building the corner shelves.

Building the inner frame

Adding the frame sides

Adding the face

Adding Euro trim to the face

Here are some Building Pictures:

Very nicely constructed. I’ve been considering one for our basement as a guest room, but then you have no excuse as to keep kinfolk or other unwanted guests from visiting. }:)~
