I had so beautiful spalted maple & this is the box it turned into, to start , the top which has a 1/8” square of maple burl sitting on figured maple with a 1” wide frame made of bocote, the front & back is spalted maple with curly bubinga on the sides , I’m sorry i didn’t get a pic of the side view, the legs were made from walnut. There is a music windup instaled also, it is covered inside with maple burl & the dividers inside are made from zebrawood , the pic does not shoe up to well, the spalted maple for the front & back was 1/2” thick & the bubinga was 1/4” thick & i used my E-Z link dovetails to made the corner joints, brass knobs & brass butt hinges were installed with a mirror also, I used watco natural danish oil then shellac for the top coat, the box measures 10 3/4” X 5 3/4” X 6 1/2” high, i really liked working with the spalted maple, around the top edge of the box i used a draw line router to make a profile edge, thanks for taking the time to look.

most of the time I’ll see a set of plans & i’ll make little adjustments to sute my case for wood etc. & try & see

what i can come up with, i made this box a while ago & i didn’t use good hinges or for that matter use a chain to hold the lid open.

Really nice box. I am also a big fan of spalted lumber, and this really stands out. Thanks!
