well I’ve been a member of this community for about a month now. Its about time I display some work. Problem is I give most of it away as presents. This is my first real project done about 2 years ago. I searched online for a blanket chest that I would buy. This is pretty close. I built it without plans and about half the tools I have now. It was definitely a confidence booster and I learned what to do and not do. Its not without its flaws, but I am happy the way it came out. Its simple frame and panel design. Its red oak, with 1/4” oak ply. The top is glued up pine to reduce cost. I edge banded the top and 3 inches all around to give the illusion that the top is oak. Its hidden by the cushion. I lined the inside with cedar. To give the panels some appeal I glued some appliques. I used pocket screws, biscuits, brads and glue. I stained with generals candlelight oil stain and finished with arm r seal (love that stuff) semi gloss. I wish the new rockler torsion hinges were available then. Hope you like it.

Mate, you are doing well.. better than I did when I first started.. my wife would not let me bring my first project into the house.. I kept it in the shed for many years as an inspiration in what not to do LOL
Keep it up. and a enjoy the journey.
